On August 2, 2017, the CMRTO received a letter from the Workforce Planning and Regulatory Affairs Division of the Ministry of Health and Long-term Care directing the CMRTO to regulate diagnostic medical sonographers and begin registration by January 2018. The measure will “enhance public protection and make the regulatory framework consistent for all areas of medical imaging”. The IDCA was one of several associations consulted in late July 2017 as part of the development of this decision.
